The University of Bologna (UNIBO), the oldest university in the world being established in 1088, offers a multi-campus structure which is divided into 23 faculties, 68 departments and 5 university campus in the Emilia Romagna region and 1 branch abroad, in Buenos Aires, Argentina. UNIBO participates in CLARIS-LPB through the Civil Engineering Department (DISTART) Hydraulics section.

Moreover, the group gained a specific expertise in river hydro-morphodynamics throughout an intense activity of numerical and physical modelling and related flow field, bed forms and sediment transport acoustic surveys especially working on several national relevance projects regarding river Po (the first Italian alluvial river).
